The firm’s principal owner, Patrick Buchana, works with clients in all stages of life to put in place the appropriate investments, insurance, and all other required parts of a comprehensive wealth plan. The word “Triad” means a grouping of 3. Pat focuses on 3 pillars of service including Wealth Management, Insurance, and Customer Service.
Pat is from Alton, Illinois originally. As a Chemical Engineering graduate of the University of Illinois, he worked over 8 years in the Corporate Engineering Department with Anheuser-Busch Companies in St. Louis, MO. Pat earned his M.B.A. summa cum laude, with a finance emphasis, from Saint Louis University as part of an effort to explore more of the business aspects of companies. He assumed key Sr. Financial Analyst roles in A-B’s Corporate Finance and Capital Planning Departments for 3 years.
Following an entrepreneurial desire to connect more with his community, Pat opened a health and life insurance agency, Triad Benefits Group, in 2009. He focused on finding the best possible insurance policies at the lowest possible prices for individuals, families, and small businesses in the St. Louis area. As it was always his goal to harness his previous financial experience in the corporate world, Pat earned his series 7 and 66 securities licenses in 2012, and in 2013 became a Financial Advisor with Burgdorf & Associates Wealth Managers, Inc., a wealth planning firm in Fairview Heights, IL, affiliated with broker/dealer First Allied Securities, Inc. Working closely with 25-year financial veteran Mark Burgdorf on a wide variety of cases, Pat comprehensively analyzed many clients’ situations and has helped them plan a secure financial future.
In April 2015, Pat decided to open his own bricks-and-mortar office. Triad Benefits Group is located in Troy, IL and combines the insurance and financial planning operations under one roof. Collaborating from their respective offices, Pat and Mark continue to form the core Metro-East team of First Allied advisors focused on delivering outstanding technical solutions, industry best practices, and up-to-date assessments of ongoing financial industry and market conditions.
Pat earned the Certified Wealth Strategist® (CWS®) designation in 2016, which centers around the identification and management of up to 13 wealth related issues a person can face during his or her lifetime. The Certified Wealth Strategist program is administered by the Cannon Financial Institute and recognizes those individuals completing a thorough study of the issues surrounding effective wealth advising to comprehensively address clients’ wealth management needs. The creation of the CWS® designation is a response to a need in the industry for a practical, application-based certification program for financial professionals. The entire program takes a minimum of six months to complete.
He lives in the Metro East and when he is not busy at the office he enjoys playing racquetball, working on muscle cars, guitar jam sessions and stay cations by the pool.
